Billie Eilish Performs Debut Album 'When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go' | New Slang
Billie Eilish brought her vibrant sold out Shepherd’s Bush Empire show to Kingston’s New Slang night with a stripped back version of her set. Billie performed music from her upcoming debut album ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ which is set to be released at the end of the month, and is predicted to be one of the biggest albums of the year.
A group of a couple thousand teenagers formed the crowd packed in shoulder to shoulder, watching the show through a sea of iPhones recording Snapchat stories.
The setting of the New Slang night makes for an experience with pop stars completely different than what a usual arena night could offer. Though absent the bright lights and big band, it was one of the most special performances from Billie. Musically, it was a rare opportunity to see Billie herself play ukulele and electric guitar to accompany herself. Also, being close enough to actually see and hear the members of audience gave her the opportunity to talk to her loyal audience.
A family night for the performer, with her brother Finneas accompanying her, she even brought her mother on tour with her. A funny moment of the night was when Billie was about to share a scandalous story, but was quickly interrupted by her mother behind the stage and told her she wasn’t allowed to tell this one! I’m sure I’m not the only still wondering what it could have been…
The debut album features music that’s already widely-acclaimed, including ‘Ocean Eyes’ which Billie released three years ago, and ‘When the Party’s Over,’ which has a music video that really stunned numerous viewers.
New Slang is a series of nights presented by Banquet Records, at the notorious Pryzm nightclub, that has a reputation of showcasing the world’s most anticipated stars in a small setting. With a range of the worlds’ most popular pop stars taking to their stage, follow the night and in the meanwhile, make sure to catch Billie Eilish’s debut album at its release at the end of the month, set for release March 29th! It’s going to change pop music as we know it.
