Maisie Peters | The Great Escape Top 10
Maisie Peters’ music is centred around her lyrics. Delivering what is almost poetry but with a melody behind it, Maisie presents a new approach to the music scene.
Maisie gave the audience of the Great Escape a chance to step away from the inundation of indie rock bands at the festival. She might not have given us funky beats and loud guitar riffs, but she still succeeded in inducing adrenaline to her audience, through vivaciously showcasing of her soft yet powerful voice.
She largely performed accompanying herself on her acoustic guitar – which has become her signature sound. But she occasionally alternated to featuring some songs acapella or where she was accompanied only by a keys player behind her, showing us a range of sounds she is yet to release and proving that she is not a one-trick pony.
Maisie was one of the Great Escape’s most anticipated acts, taking part in their First Fifty announcement all the way back in November. She performed in the perfect setting of a Church here, adding to the atmosphere of her ambient vocals.
She has only officially released three singles so far, with a few more recordings uploaded to YouTube. But her debut song ‘Place We Were Made’ was so expressive that she caught everyone’s attention in a minute. It was definitely the song that the entire audience was waiting to see, though soaking in the other unreleased tunes she had to offer.
Keep following Maisie to see where else she may take her as she joins the new-wave of song-writing!
