Heir | Live at Leeds Top 12

Heir opened up Live at Leeds with the first slot of the day on Leeds Beckett 2 stage. Though always a risk of audiences not venturing out too early to city festivals, Heir managed to fill up the venue with their midday slot, proving the popularity and high quality music the Leeds based band produce.

The group, who's Instagram bio sternly (but helpfully) instructs its not pronounced 'hair,' but 'air,' bring forward a collection of signs resemblant of 80s pop music, heavy in synths and upbeat rhythms. Heir also do a good job of staying contemporary though, making them competitive in today's indie pop scene. The stage sees the five members just as if they were in a massive jam together, their musical connection and friendship shining throughout. Lead vocalist Tom Hammond in particular would join his band mates on the synths or such when he wasn't playing this tambourine and dancing with every bit of energy he had.  

Of course playing their two releases songs 'I'll Pick You Up,' and 'Need You The Most,' which perfectly showcase the contemporary funk the group aim to emulate.

The group are highly influential in the Leeds creative scene, running their own monthly night 'Blueprint' in Hyde Park Book Club. Whilst proudly promoting the Northern scene, the group also have begun conquering London, with a headline show at Sebright Arms on June 8th (tickets here) Go check 'em out for a night of throwback pop with the coolest lads in the North.
